Certified and sworn translation
A certified translation is not simply an accurate one. It carries a signed statement from a translator who is authorised to produce it, with a seal and a registration number the receiving authority can verify. Without that, a perfectly good translation is returned at the counter.
Who signs your translation
In Indonesia a sworn translator is appointed by decree and registered by the Ministry of Law, and signs an accuracy statement in their own name. Documents going to another country are instead certified by a translator authorised there — a traducteur assermenté in France, a beëdigd vertaler in the Netherlands, a NAATI-certified translator for Australia. We match the document to the certification its destination recognises, which is the single most common reason files get rejected.
The translation has to look like the original
Officials compare the two documents side by side. Our typesetters reproduce the layout of the source: tables stay tables, seals and stamps are described in place, handwritten notes and illegible entries are marked rather than quietly omitted, and page numbering matches. Nothing is added and nothing is left out.

Common questions
Is a certified translation the same as a notarised one?
No. The sworn translator certifies that the content is accurate. A notary certifies that the signature on that statement really belongs to the translator. Many authorities want both, in that order.
Do you need the original document?
For the translation itself, a clear scan or photo is enough. The original is only needed when a later step — notary, ministry or embassy — has to stamp the physical document.
How long does it take?
A one to three page civil document is normally ready in two working days. Longer or specialised files are quoted with a date before work starts, and rush handling is available.
